The Goodman Pub & Kitchen
Summer feel calls for food and drinks out on the patio, sippin on sangria and eating shareable with your friends. The weather in Toronto for the past few days has been pretty crappy, but just over Saturday, it was one of the best days yet. There were no scattered thunderstorms, no extreme wind, just clear blue skies, sunny, nice and warm. How did I take advantage out of that one day? Hit up a patio for dinner of course! We decided to hit up The Goodman Pub and Kitchen. First of all, may I just say the location of this pub is perfecto?? Located right at harbourfront, looking out to the lake. We first got the drinks menu and the list was never ending.
There were so many awesome drinks that I wanted to try but cause of student fundzz and the fact that I glow like a tomato, I only stuck to one lmao.I ordered the Spiced Watermelon Sangria(Gordon's London dry gin / apricot brandy / processo / pink lemonade / chili pepper / diced watermelon garnish), and Brian ordered the All That and a Bag of Chips (Seagram's Canadian Whisky / Mott's Clamato / Worcestershire / chipotle tabasco / maple syrup / served with a bag of maple bacon chips). Both drinks were so refreshing. I usually don't drink caesars but I tried a little a bit and it was so good that I was so tempted to order one for myself. The sangria was so refreshing and light - it's like a watermelon refresher but with rosé.
All their starters looked like it was worth a try but the ones that stood out the most was the P&K Dip(hummus, pistachio pesto, chili flakes w/ naan, carrots, celery) and the Buffalo Cauliflower Bites(pretzel crusted, tossed in Frank's Hot Sauce, dill ranch drizzle). Although I literally just realized that my P&K Dip didn't come with carrots or celery, it was still amazing. The hummus was so creamy and smooth, it also had a bit of a citrus flavour to it. Honestly, there wasn't enough naan for the dip. The buffalo bites were also delicious. It literally tasted like a buffalo wings to me but a healthier version of course. There was so much sauce and the drizzle of drill ranch on top really did the trick.
Our mains came after and I ordered the Bayou Jambalaya Pasta(creole sauce, Andouille sausage, sauteed chicken breast, shrimp, penne, crispy fried onions), while Brian ordered the Fish & Chips(Mill St. organic beer battered haddock, made-in-pub tartar sauce w/ tater tots). The pasta had so much meat on it that I'm pretty sure it looked like there was more meat than pasta (which is a good thing considering the price was pretty reasonable!). The pasta didn't feel heavy at all, the creole sauce really complimented with the pasta and the meat altogether. You could really taste the beer batter from the fish and chips. Their tartar sauce was so good, I lowkey wanted more of the sauce for the fish. Although the batter was a bit too thick for me personally, the texture of the fish inside was cooked just right and flaky (not in a bad way).To summarize, my experience at The Goodman was really good, I'm definitely gonna go back again this summer!
